My name is Lydia Garcia, and I let my dreams be bigger than my fears.
Like many others – perhaps like you – I feared the uncertainty of risk and vulnerability, so I always chose the safest option.
I want you to know that it doesn’t matter what obstacles or difficulties may get in your way. You always have the capacity to learn from them and allow growth to happen.
When you start cultivating security within instead of looking for it outside of yourself, you become free and making choices becomes easier and healthier.
I have experienced worry and stress. I have felt overwhelmed, not just because of external difficulties, but because I fell into a judgemental and downward spiral that led me to overthink everything and stop myself from taking the right course of action. This is what I call the procrastination brain loop.
Like you, I just wanted to make sure I was going to be happy and everything was going to be ok.
When I was growing up, I incorporated into my beliefs the idea that I was too sensitive to take big risks so, I was unwilling to be vulnerable. I subscribed to the statement “expect the worst, and you’ll never be disappointed.” And at some point, I decided not to give 100% to everything I did, “just in case”. I was fearful and avoiding intense emotional experiences.
disappointing others was one of my biggest fears
I began to be curious about how our minds work, why we do what we do and feel what we feel so I decided to study Psychology.
As soon as I finished my studies, I moved to the UK from Tenerife.
Language was a big barrier for me, and practically all my support network was miles away. I was not aware of what I wanted and my identity got lost. Once again, I drifted into the “safest option” by investing solely on my career.
I wasn’t taking care of myself nor was I aware of my needs or desires and I got burnt out. I continued to procrastinate on acting on the ones that were apparent, investing time and energy everywhere else but myself.
Does this sound familiar?
I had to take a deeper look at how I was living my life and I decided to start living it on my own terms.
I realised that, first of all, I needed to practice self-awareness so I could keep in touch with what I really wanted and who I truly was.
I came to the conclusion I needed to take risks. I wanted to travel the world and experience authentic relationships.
I chose to follow my passions. I used all the resources I had learned along on the way to become aware of my potential and resilience and I decided to begin my entrepreneurial journey to support others in doing the same.
Today, I use the same tools that allowed me to grow confidently and enhance my well-being to support career-focused women or man who struggle with stress, anxiety and lack of confidence. I help them deal with uncertainty, with worry and self-doubt building up their self-belief and a sense of worth.
My aim is to support them to gain both the courage and motivation to make decisions with a security that comes from within. For them to start setting boundaries and taking care of themselves so they can live a more balanced life and enhance their well-being.
we all have the opportunity to be successful in life
To me, living an effective and successful life means living a life where I have the energy and the motivation to be true to myself, to keep learning while walking and enjoying my own path.
A life in which I can take action in the knowledge that whatever happens I will be able to handle it and will make me grow. A life where I can choose to take the time to nurture my needs, to spend quality time with my loved ones, and to be bold to do the things I’ve always wanted to do.
It is a life where you feel calm and content beside the intensity of the emotions.
A life where you can achieve a sense of peace and satisfaction by being courageous, confident, authentic and free.
